SECOND STOP ON COMMUNITY TOUR This Thursday, I hope you’ll join me at the police substation on Blatchley Street in Fair Haven as I make my second stop on this summer’s community tour. LAST CONCERT OF THIS SUMMER’S MUSIC ON THE GREEN Soul Asylum delivered a great performance this past Saturday on the New Haven Green. We have just one concert left in this summer Music on the Green series made possible by the New Alliance Foundation. This Saturday at 6pm please join us in welcoming Regina Bell to the stage. After the concert, don’t forget to enjoy the great sights and tastes of Downtown New Haven. There are more than 100 restaurants within a 2-block radius of the Green. FARMERS MARKET VOUCHERS FOR SENIORS The State of Connecticut Department of Agriculture has issued an increase in the allotment of farmer’s market coupons for the City of New Haven. New Haven annually receives 1,600 farmer's market coupon booklets. This year, the City will be receiving 3,967 booklets. Farmers Market Coupon booklets are issued to seniors age 62 and older who have a maximum household income of not more than 185 percent of the annual poverty guidelines and are New Haven residents (1 person income limit is $18,130 while the family limit is $24,420). The coupon booklets are $15 in value and can be used at the City Farmers Markets which are held: City Hall Wednesdays 11:00 - 4:00 Fairhaven Thursdays 3:00 - 7:00 Wooster Square Saturday 9:00 - 1:00 Edgewood Park Sunday 10:00 - 2:00 The booklets will be distributed through the City of New Haven 6 senior centers on Wednesday and Fridays only starting Wednesday August 1, 2007. We’ve seen hundreds of residents each day line up outside of this office to apply for the Elm City Resident card. Until further notice, the office will be open from 9am until 7pm to accommodate the large numbers of residents we’re seeing daily. You can download your application online at www.cityofnewhaven.com. Please also visit the site for information on required documentation that you’ll need to bring in to be eligible for the new identification cards.
